Marcus Hansen first became involved with Oregon Trail Rally in 2011 as a spectator.
Marcus keeps coming back to rally because of the people—watching everyone pull together to create what he describes as the greatest spectacle in rally west of Missouri.

He is involved in Stage Rally and Rallycross, with past experience in Global RallyCross and Drag Racing, and is based in Western Washington, traveling from Canada to Arizona to support rally events.
"I’ve had a heavy interest in rally since 1986, but OTR was the first rally I attended. It has always felt like home to me. This is how I help facilitate the sport I love."
"On a Sunday at my first OTR I said (to nobody in particular) “I have to get involved”. Jim Breazeale turned around and said, “you can always volunteer…”. The rest, as we say, is history."
At 2025 OTR, "I am the Sign Master.

I transit all the stages in the early morning and set up the construction signs (Road Closed, R. C. Ahead, Congestion), report any challenges, and then retrieve them (along with any trash or car parts) in the evening."
