After spectating for several years, Trevor Sullivan made his first volunteer at Oregon Trail Rally in 2025, working ATC on Friday and Stop and Flying Finish on Saturday and Sunday. What drew him in was the chance to be up close to the cars and competitors, work alongside people who share the same passion, and experience a side of OTR that spectators—and even support crew—don’t get to see.
At a rally, ATC (Arrival Time Control) and Stop and Flying Finish volunteers manage key timing points on each stage. ATC ensures cars arrive in the correct order and time window, while Stop and Flying Finish controls record stage completion times and confirm cars exit the stage safely. These roles are critical to keeping the rally fair, accurate, and running on schedule.

"In 2023 I spectated Friday night and drove out to Goldendale on Saturday, where I blew a turbo coolant return line (horrible spot and I didn't know the car very well yet, I was in trouble)."
"I was stranded all day at the staging area until, after dark, one of the DirtFish crews let me pull my Audi into their pit and helped me get it fixed enough to drive home. Thanks Shaun!"
Trevor enjoys "dirt, gravel, and sand in cars and on bikes in the name of content creation. I'm the co-driver for the team @motorsports4christ class 11 bug (first event this weekend!) and we're aiming for the Mint 400 and KOH in 2026. I'm also wanting to prepare a dedicated car for rallycross/dirt this summer and stage rally in the future."
