Ron has been involved in rally since 1967, starting as a competitor and later taking on safety and organizing roles. He also organizes TSD rallies and is developing the 2025 Nor’wester Auto Rally, now in its 58th year. In Ron's own words

"For 2025 Oregon Trail Rally, my role was the driver of the Double Zero car for Course Opening Team Fugawi? Safety Cars, as well as team captain for the other Safety Cars contingent."

"For decades I was a competitor. And in 2003 we formed this team and began giving back to the sport we all love. Making events as safe as humanly possible is our goal."

What keeps bringing me back to OTR? "A decade or so ago my answer would have been to keep a driving share of the sport, but that has been surpassed now by the need to do whatever we can to keep the sport safe."

TeamFugawi?

"TeamFugawi? Safety Cars" is made up of former competitors -- drivers, navigators, crew chiefs, and organizers with the goal of bringing safe enjoyment of our chosen sport to everyone, competiors, volunteers and spectators. Being in the sport since 1967 I have the longest tenure, followed closely by starting in 1968, and scattered starts in the 1970's... As we grow, we are recruiting another generation of safety minded individuals joining our team.
