Ryan Walsh

Ryan Walsh became a ham radio assistant in 2025, working alongside his dad during rally operations and helping support communication and car identification throughout the event. A longtime fan of rally highlights and an occasional spectator, stepping into a working role allowed Ryan to experience the sport from inside the action while connecting with the rally community firsthand. Based in the Puget Sound, he values the people he’s met through rally and the unique opportunity to be part of an event he had previously only watched from the sidelines.

In Ryan's own words

"I became the defacto ham radio assistant. My job consisted of running to grab my dad whenever he’s called on the radio or helping him identify any cars he may have missed while cataloguing them."

"I’ve always liked to watch the highlight clips online and spectate these rallies occasionally with my dad, so being able to help work one and be apart of the action with him felt so awesome!"

"Getting to see all the amazing cars and meeting new people through the great community surrounding these races! I’ve met so many interesting people through these rallies!"

"A favorite memory that stands out was getting to see a Skoda for the first time this year! I’ve always been into funky European cars and a huge Skoda fan, so being able to finally see one in person was awesome!"

Other than rally, "I love to take my car to track days at Pacific Raceway when I have the time!"
